Economic Development Director


The Edwards County Economic Development Corporation (ECEDC), a public/private county-wide economic development organization, is seeking an experienced Economic Development Executive Director to lead it into the future. This is a full-time position that works closely with the ECEDC Board of Directors in promoting the business and economic development interests within Edwards County.

Qualifications
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Ability to cultivate and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to utilize technology as needed to accomplish job responsibilities.
  • Bachelor's degree required. (Experience can be accepted in lieu of a degree)
  • Experience in economic development and/or organizational management is strongly preferred.
  • Willingness to work outside of normal business.
  • Some local, regional, and state travel is required. (Must have a valid driver's license and will use own vehicle)
  • Must relocate to Edwards County within 6 months of hire.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the overall leadership, management, and direction for ECEDC.
  • Develops and implements short- and long-term economic development strategies to achieve the organization's goals and objectives including those related to business attraction, business retention & expansion, entrepreneurship, housing, community development, and tourism.
  • Establishes and maintains strong working relationships with local businesses, city and county officials, chamber of commerce, state and regional partners, the media, and the general public.
  • Represents the ECEDC at appropriate civic, cultural, charitable, business, and community activities.
  • Serves on boards, commissions, committees, and organizations related to areas that are critical to ECEDC's goals and interests.
  • Prepares, administers, and monitors the organization's budget and performs all accounting functions.
  • Leads the development and administration of fundraising and/or grant writing for general operations and special projects in the community. 
  • Marketing of ECEDC & Edwards County through social media and website.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
